Whoa nelly, ninja-fans!
I just flew in from the gentlemen's club and boy
are my arms tired! ...No I didn't, but that's because I just spent
the last 4 hours (And several weeks before that) working on a brand new
supersite to add to your favorites list! What's more, I managed to
update LNT.com less than an hour after an update previous (NOTE:
After making the thread on the board, that number.. got a little later)... just in time
to bump Aaron off of his throne and give me a little much-deserved
spotlight. Without further ad..adu...uh...adeu....
stuff, I announce the grand opening of the (2/3 complete) Ninja Gaiden 2
Production Megasite (<--OH MAN, THAT JUST MAKES IT EVEN COOLER):
NG2:
The Dragon's Bored.
Complete with more artwork than my grandmother's last fridge, TDB
showcases the production art of Ninja Gaiden 2 to give further insight as
to how a crazy project like that gets itself done. If you want a
better idea than what this site gives you, you're better off just watching
a Benny Hill or Thomas Bown Marathon, because it's not that interesting
(Ha.. you know I'm just playin,' ladies. I'm just playin'). So
kick your feet up, turn your brain off, and prepare to hound me with
compliments and postcards because my slaving surely didn't disappoint.
For the record, I'd like to dedicate this site's official opening to my
momma and Elvis. Both of whom I hope never sneak around my computer
enough to find this.

Over a month since the last
update. Christ. We've gotta try and avoid this sort of thing happening,
especially this soon after we came into being. I feel like I'm entitled to
at least a LITTLE justification, though. College has been incredibly
taxing lately, and now that I'm actually learning about cascading style
sheets and discovering how outdated and cumbersome this layout is, I feel
less and less like doing anything with it. Having just under a hundred new
reviews and 23 new movie pages to add didn't help.
But here I am, and there you are, and Mike Belfance and Ben "Zaps" Lee
have become full-fledged Lock 'N Toad reviewing staff. No one in the
history of the community has put out reviews of this quality and length on
such a frequent basis until these two. Still, the rest of us try, and
there are more stray reviews and movie pages floating around than I feel
like bothering to point you towards. Think of this as exploring! You get
to poke around and see all kinds of new sights. Oh yeah, the staff page is
finally up, I got sick of being the only one with a bio, so I did everyone
else's. Sorta.
Since this update was so enormous, there are still crucial pieces missing:
for one, the downloads aren't up, as I can't even upload a 34KB .jpg file
without my school's server crying to me like a little girl. There's an
upload cap at UNCA, and it's been worse in the past few weeks than it ever
has been before. More evidence that Goro needs to do more work is what I
think! (Note from site owner: Additionally, the Review Listing has all of Zaps and Mike's review
listings added, but the links don't work yet; the Review Archive's took me
an hour as it was, so that's gonna have to wait. Some of the information
on the movie pages is incomplete or not accurate, notably the filesize,
expansion requirements, and runtime data. Sometimes it's right, sometimes
it's around that area, sometimes I just left it blank. There are probably
other things.
There are a few things of note, as long as I'm here: Two major releases
have happened in the past few weeks, one just to day, one a few weeks ago.
To be fair, there have been more than just two, but just those two have
been reviewed. They are Actor's Day by Daniel Martin of JDR
fame and 00 Dee Boned: Venison Jelly by Russel Stepan of Dee
Boned fame. Actor's Day has two reviews not posted on the board, by Zaps
and Orcus, and in spending the entire night finishing this update I also
took the time to review the three major Dee Boned movies, Rotisserie
Chicken, You Only Live Until You Die, and
Venison Jelly. So check those out.
There are some reviews that haven't been added yet, mainly because the
pages for those movies haven't been created, mainly because the
screenshots would take another hour to grab and format, and the movie
pages would take another hour after that, if not more considering all the
Review Archive/Movie Archive/Review Listing changes I'd have to make. I
envy Strnad and his database more than you can possibly imagine.
Where did 7AM come from? Bastard snuck up on me again.

Much has happened since the
last update -- in case you haven't visited the site since the 21st, allow
me to fill you in:
Jon Barton has reviewed Pamela and SATANIK.
I've reviewed SATANIK, Generations, Lock 'N Load 2, Stranger 4, and In the
Box.
Orcus has reviewed Ghost in the Shell and Pamela (warning, major spoilers
in that second one).
Andres has reviewed Backwards Chain Movie and Jake. Imagine his delight.
Goro has reviewed Pamela.
Andres and I seem to be doing pretty well for ourselves! Pamela hasn't had
any violently negative feedback at all, indeed most people seem to be big
fans of the style. SATANIK appears to be polarizing audiences, which comes
as no surprise given the incredibly violent and cruel nature of the film
and the main character's moral center being offset by a few hundred miles.
Still, it's reception has been largely positive, with scores typically
being either extremely high with a small minority of extremely lows.
Personally, I think it's one of the greatest 3DMM films of all time, and
if it doesn't hold that coveted number one spot (which I'm still
thinking about), it's extremely close. It's kinda funny how an insanely
hyped film can be considered overrated even as people are underrating it
as a RESULT of the hype. Then again, I still think the same thing happened
to JDR Revival. But yeah, rant over, SATANIK rocks harder than almost
anything ever, go watch and review it. Also Pamela.
And most importantly, Lock 'N Load 2. You soulless, puppy-murdering
HEATHENS.
Also, look at
this. Not functional yet, but
it's something we may be implementing soon. We won't be snagging reviews
right out of threads, of course, we'll have you e-mail them for submission
so we'll have permission to put them up and all. But if you guys think
it's a good idea and it encourages people to give more detailed feedback
on movies, it's most definitely something we'll work into the site.
