Short,
crudely animated, and surprisingly fun! For a two day project,
this was actually pretty good, seeing also as this is the first
time Kyle has touched 3dmm in who knows how long.
This is set to a song by an unlisted artist called "Ice Cream
Man", and the onscreen action is synced to fit the song, which
sort of makes it a music video, I guess. A boy is waiting for
the ice cream man on a sidewalk with a group of people, and like
many an idiot ice cream man I've met, the truck drives right by
them. Determined to get his ice cream, the boy runs, leaps, and
jumps from car to car chasing after him. The whole thing is
highly entertaining and actually has some really inspired
moments, like when the boy is in the back of the truck and you
see him get larger in the rear-view mirror before he crashes
face-first into the dashboard when the ice cream man slams on
the breaks.
The animation and scenery could use some work; the movie seems
unsure about whether or not its scenery should be moving during
a lot of shots, and is hesitant to do so when it has to. The
roads are asphalt textures with the new grass texture on the
side. The sky is the default 3dmm sky. However, some shots are
pretty well done, like the bridge, and the shots using the rear
and side mirrors on the ice cream truck. A little more time
spent and the visual experience of this flick could have been
top-notch.
I won't spoil whether or not he gets his ice cream, but it's a
quick, fun ride and a recommended download. And I'm really not
saying that because I have a dedication in the credits.
