There
are many people out there that are complaining "hey how come no
one releases movies anymore?" and "the board is almost dead" and
the like. Well this movie was one movie that was actually
released during this time period (actually back in January) and
for some reason was missed by a lot of people. This is sad in
its own right considering instead of just whining and such
people didn't even bother to watch this three minute treat given
to us by Kyle Magocs and quite frankly it deserves more credit
than has been given to it.
Now Ice Cream Man is by no means breaking any new ground.
Plot-wise it's straighter than an arrow, with a twelve year old
who has a personal vendetta against the ice cream man who seems
to pass him even though he holds out his money. Scenery
construction is also one step up from a Ching film. Animation
wise it isn't all that great either except for some neat HMC
effects near the end of the movie that's definitely worth a
look. Dialogue...well there really isn't aside from the lyrics
sung from the song being played throughout the movie. But even
all these together make for something a little different. An
actual effort.
To set things straight Kyle actually has done what few people
have tried to in 3dmm. Ice Cream Man if you don't know already
is actually a music video for a song entitled...Ice Cream Man (omfg
you did NOT see that coming). The last one I can really think of
is Andres' movie of Blink 182's 'What's My Age Again?'. It's
actually quite cool to see the music go along with the movie
cause it gives the action you are viewing some kind of meaning
if you will. I think it worked quite well.
Not expecting much from this movie I was actually quite
surprised. Kyle did better than I thought, even though the
elements of the movie weren't up to snuff. All in all I see this
music videoesque movie as at least an effort in this drought of
movie's we've been having.
