Sketch
comedy is something rarely done in 3DMM. I can only think of a
few examples such as the Many Deaths of Mczee series off the top
of my head but Skitzophrenia is how one should be done. That
doesn't necessarily mean it was great though. Delivering in some
areas and lacking in others, this turned out to be an
interesting but sometimes mediocre movie.
A lot of the humor in this movie was hit and miss. There were
some scenes that had me almost in tears:
• When the paki guy was getting hassled and suddenly shouted out
"Why the hell are you asking me? I don't even fucking work
here!" and walked out.
But there were also some scenes that were kinda stupid:
• The whole C.O.B.S. thing.
And then there were the scenes that started out funny but kinda
dragged:
• The guy telling jokes to the road. I laughed at the beginning
real good but then after aout 150 frames it was kinda like "come
on now..."
Of course to just write off this off as a bad comedy would be
wrong. Overall I rather enjoyed the humor, albeit the slow
moments.
Now the scenery wasn't great but in all honesty it really didn't
matter. What was there got the point across and worked well for
what was going on. Even the pre-made scenes, which usually make
me uneasy unless I know what might happen, weren't all that bad.
I liked how Jaymond worked with the premade scenes at times too
such as the Comedy Club and the cinema, I dunno it
just...worked. Nothing much else I can say in this category.
Animation was actually pretty good. The movements of the
characters were for the most part fluid and when they needed to
be added to the humor. A little jerky in some areas but other
than that nothing else to complain about.
Voice acting is where this movie shines. Not completely
phenomenal but a lot better than most movies nowadays. The one
thing that was good was that even though there were about 20-30
characters overall throughout the film each retained a different
voice, which is hard coming from only a handful of people. As
always Jaymond showcases his many talents here doing a variety
of different voices. A thumbs up in this category.
Overall Skitzophrenia was one of those movies that's good to
watch when you're bored. Enough humor to lighten the atmosphere
and it sure takes up enough time. I was expecting a little more
from Jaymond but this wasn't too bad. The one thing I will say
is that if this movie was released by say a newbie it probably
wouldn't be getting praised as much as it is. I'll admit it's
good but it's far from the best.
