I have been incredibly lazy with making decent 3DMM movies, so
instead, reviewing them allows me to keep in touch with a very
creative program. I suppose I just find that watching and
critisizing movies more enjoyable than directing one. You are
probably wondering 'what is the point?' and it's really simple -
Bruised is a very inspiring movie. It is short and sweet,
clocking at around three minutes long, and yet Brandon has made
an extremely well-made short. Forget how long the Vlarion or JDR
series are, this is just a few minutes long, and the idea behind
it is simple, but so effective.
The colour scheme at the start, which reminded me of the
recently-reviewed Dead Heart in a Dead World, was used well,
showing the main character's general mood. And it's not only
that, the hand-made character was animated well, the dog was
created nicely, and many background items, such as the flower
pot, added a more realistic feel. After a couple of minutes,
Bruised comes to an end, and I liked the way it was wrapped up.
The colours felt so cheerful and vibrant, and a smile came to my
face. At first, I thought the ending was perhaps too sudden, but
a second viewing disposed of any doubt.
Bruised, a short, simple feel-good movie, has inspired me to do
more creative things with 3DMM rather than just watching movies,
and I imagine that many other inexperienced users have done the
same. Go ahead and watch it.
