Ninja
Gaiden, REDUX, the movies Gorosaurus has released have been of
high quality, and Lock 'n Load 2 shows off his unfinished work.
It is not often I watch a compilation like this, but Goro does
it in a rather more interesting way. Instead of continuously
watching his work, a little story has been put in. Two guys
decide it would be a great idea to cut and paste bits of Goro's
old work in to create a movie, and at times, it was funny.
I just found it quite funny seeing Ashtar and Hench trying to
make something decent from Goro's work. I presume the clips
weren't originally meant to be funny, but the way they were
added into the movie was very well done. I smiled at the way
Gorosaurus has cleverly managed to make some of his animations
entertaining and sometimes funny. Genius. The voice-acting also
helps, creating a more light-hearted comical atmosphere. The
comments from the two lunatics are generally great to listen to,
with some hilarious lines in to make you laugh. And what about
Goro's work? Well, I reckon all of it is better than what I can
do! A lot of the animations and work were very impressive, but
inevitably, some of them looked less visually good. But this is
easily forgiven. After all, they ARE unfinished. What, you
expect everything to look as amazing as REDUX did?
There were bits which went on for a bit too long, but again,
considering this is a compilation, this was to be expected. The
vague story was actually quite effective though, and I thought
it worked well. Of course, one thing I liked about Lock 'n Load
2 was seeing Lock and Toad. I haven't actually seen much of them
in action (apart from the successful REDUX) and it was nice to
see them again.
Lock 'n Load 2 is a great compilation from one of the better
current directors. You will do well to download this and admire
his unreleased work. They may not look as eye-catching as Ninja
Gaiden or REDUX, granted, but you're forgetting that these clips
are unfinished, and therefore they will not be as good as some
of the released stuff. If you're a fan of Gorosaurus, I don't
think I need to tell you that you should watch this. But
seriously, it may not entertain you from start to finish, but it
is worth spending a bit of time smiling at some of a legend's
unseen clips.
